Forms of Renewable Energy

Two Forms of Renewable Energy

The two greatest forms of renewable energy are solar and wind energy. Both of these forms of renewable energy offer distinct advantages to both consumers and businesses alike. They are called renewable energy because nature is constantly replenishing them. Wikipedia say that only 16% of the world’s total energy consumption at this time comes from renewable sources. Wouldn’t it be great if the world was making better use of renewable energy forms like solar and wind energy?  Because solar and wind energy leave no pollutants our world would be a much less polluted place. A less polluted place to live would be a better place to raise families and enjoy life. Think of how good all that clean air and water would feel around our entire world.

What is Solar Energy

Solar energy is the best known form of renewable energy. Solar energy comes from our nearest star the Sun. It has actually been used in civilization since ancient times. The two most common ways of using solar energy are active or passive. An example of active solar would be solar planels converting sunlight into electricity. With active solar the energy is transformed into something that is easier for people to use. An example of passive solar would be a home constructed to maximize the amount of sunlight it receives in cooler months. The sunlight in this passive solar designed home would be adding warmth for the homeowners and reducing their bill at the same time. As you can see solar energy is amazing and beneficial to everyone that takes advantage of it. Solar energy is an excellent form of renewable energy. We will next discuss wind energy or wind power.

Wind Energy

Wind energy or wind power is the transformation of the energy of wind into something useable. For example a wind turbine that transforms the wind into electricity or a sail that moves a ship. Wind energy is neat. Some obstacles to its development have been how it looks in the environment. But not everyone agrees that large wind vanes are an eyesore. I guess it all depends on your perspective. Windpower is still in its infancy. One positive sign of its future development is the trend of large utility companies purchasing wind power from smaller wind farms today. As you can see wind power is exciting and neat.

Putting it all Together

Solar energy and wind power are both great forms of renewable energy. Using solar energy and wind power is beneficial to our environment since they don’t pollute. If you haven’t ever used solar energy or wind power wouldn’t it be neat to try one these energy sources out today. EarthTech below offers many, many excellent solar powered products and gifts.
